A one-of-a-kind day journey up Mount Athos.
The monastic state, located on Halkidiki’s third and eastern peninsulas, is a self-governing branch of the Greek Orthodox Church, and its Byzantine monuments have global recognition and are well worth seeing.
At 09.30 a.m., the traditional ship departs from Ormos Panagia’s port, sailing through Sithonia’s bays till we reach our first destination, Mount Athos’ south peak and monastery of Saint Paul.
We continue our journey down the shore, moving north, in order to view eight further monasteries from the closest distance possible without entering into Mount Athos.
Following this excursion, we will arrive at the port of Ouranoupoli’s or the central port of Ammouliani’s Island (depending on the day) for a halt of around one hour and a half to allow you to go for a stroll, drink coffee, eat lunch in a restaurant of your choosing, or simply to take in the scenery.
After an hour, we’ll proceed to Ormos Panagias, our last destination; on the way back, there will be live bouzouki on board, allowing you to participate in traditional Greek dances.
At 17.30, we will arrive at our ultimate destination, Ormos Panagias.
